PBS Set To Air 2 Hip-Hop Related Documentaries

PBS (UNC-TV Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) is set to air 2 critically acclaimed documentaries during their late night line up; Copyright Criminals will air on January 22, 2010 at 2:00am and Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes on January 29, 2010 at 2:00am.
Copyright Criminals
Copyright Criminals examines the creative and commercial value of sampling, including the long standing debate of artistic expression versus money.
The film showcases some of hip-hop music’s founding figures like Public Enemy, De La Soul, and Digital Underground—while also featuring emerging hip-hop artists from record labels Definitive Jux and Rhymesayers. It also provides an in-depth look at artists who have been sampled, such as Clyde Stubblefield (James Brown’s drummer and the world’s most sampled musician), as well as commentary by funk legend George Clinton.
Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes
“Hip Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes,” by director Byron Hurt, examines musical portraits of sexism, masculinity and homophobia in hip-hop songs. The film includes interviews with hip-hop artists Mos Def and Busta Rhymes.
Both films are a must see!
