Tru Poetics: “We Are Letting You Go”

Posted on 01/04/10, in True Poetics (Podcast), by Truitt O'Neal

Recently I have been writing more and more. At times I write to be creative but other times I have been writing to get things out of my system.

Below is a piece that I wrote to a friend I met several years ago and who has since withdrew himself from our circle of friends. Without being confrontational, I wrote this in hopes that he would see it and understand.

We Are Letting You Go

Letter to whom it may concern…

We’re letting you go. No more worries. No more emails, phone calls, IM’s, and no more hello’s and goodbyes until you are ready. Your spirit that graced us the first time we met and the feeling it brought is still the same. We still love you!!!! Please know that we will always be here for you in your hour of need but for now, We move on. It’s time to move into the arms of folks that welcome and embrace Us. For too long We have wanted to be apart of your life but you, at every turn, have successfully shut us out and hidden yourself from us with fear that we would judge; Never have we done that. You will always have a space in our heart and never forget that you are always loved. You have the number…
