Tru Shares: The Blood Pressure Check

Spent the early part of the day at a local CVS encouraging African-American Men to get their blood pressure checked. Surprisingly we had about 30 folks come out to the event although I think that they really wanted the tickets to an upcoming comedy show. Nevertheless, a large amount of men did show up.

Now I have to admit that I had not had a BP test in quite a while but I was surprised when they said that my reading was 150/80 which by today’s standards is pretty bad; pretty much walking dead ready to happen. Now the nurse did say that since the armband was a bit too small for me (arm band sized s-medium), and I had been working in the sun for aboout an hour that the reading could have been a bit off. I really hope that’s the case. I plan on visiting a doctor later on this week.
